Happiness

[hap-pi-nes] noun

Is a mental state and feeling that you experience when you’re under the pretense of positive emotions all the while genuinely enjoying the situation you’re currently in.

To many people happiness comes in various forms and circumstances, some people might find some things exciting and joyful while some might not. For example, some people might say that reading good books makes them happy meanwhile others might say that books are boring and that they prefer watching. With that being said, it can easily be decided that one’s happiness depends on their own likes and dislikes towards certain matters. Starting from simple things such as being greeted by a friend in the morning to eating really tasty meals, all those little things can easily brighten a person’s day. After doing further research and conducting a survey simple things such as listening to music, good food, sleeping, and hanging out with friends were favored among the majority of people in the survey. Other things such as pets, shopping, travelling, and playing video games were also included and answered among them. Scientifically, it is proven that simple things such as exercising, sleeping enough, spending times with loved ones, and meditating will naturally make you feel content. In a way, this also relates to stress seeing as both matters relate to each other. Similar to constantly feeling stress, being unhappy will also lead to damaging both your mental and physical health too. Being unhappy for long has proven to be a dangerous matter seeing as such things can lead to other mental health problems that concerns one’s safety and sanity. Mainly unhappiness is caused by things such as lack of self-esteem, negative attitude towards life, and overthinking. Lack of self-esteem can cause extreme unhappiness seeing as people with this kind of trait often compares themselves to other people which always ends up bringing them down and causing their self-esteem to lower even further from time to time. Usually people who lacks self-esteem are very insecure and are very sensitive towards other opinion about them. This habit of theirs will also make them feel as though they are never enough, eventually leading them to a depressive and hostile state. As for having negative perspective/attitude towards life, people with these habits will always feel as though they are always unhappy since they will always focus and look for negative things to the point that they do not even consider nor look at the brighter side of life anymore. Overthinking can lead to unhappiness from the negative emotions that are caused by worrying and obsessing on little details such as a memory from the past and things like worry for the future. Obsessing and worrying over these kinds of things will surely make one feel bad about themselves constantly and can eventually leads to other negative feelings. Another cause of unhappiness is setting unrealistic goals. People who keeps setting unrealistic goals will continue to feel unhappy whenever they can’t achieve their goal. These types of goals make life even harder and more difficult to face seeing as when they are not able to reach their goals they will feel as though they are failures which would in the end lower their confidence and make them work even harder. So, to wrap things up we can conclude that unhappiness can easily drain us physically, emotionally, and mentally. And since simple things such a greeting can make someone’s day, make sure to be nice and greet everyone you know kindly.
